I always feel so much more comfortable if the person working on me seems confident and sure of what they're doing. Even if they start doing something that I'm like "WTF?", if they do it with confidence, I trust that it's good for me. And yes, totally paying for the touch and the permission to relax and feel okay about our bodies for a few mins.

Agreed! I think most people are paying for the right to carve out time to relax. Unfortunately that's the part that is hardest to experience as a student because we're so busy trying to learn how to perform a service ourselves, even when we're playing client, we're too busy asking questions like "which way are you supposed to circle the towel?"

Also, I am freakishly ticklish (especially behind my knees and under my chin) so for me, dry exfoliation is an exercise in "don't kick my classmate in the face while she's working on me" willpower. Not so much on the relaxing.

The "dry exfoliating" thing does feel good, even if it does absolutely zippy. Surely customers are paying just as much for the experience and the relaxation as the skin benefits, yes?
